Brief:
This project was created as my senior year capstone project at Syracuse University. I chose to incorporate my passion for travel and geography into a design project.

Tools:
Procreate, InDesign

Concept:
This booklet is a road trip guide through route 66, highlighting seven famous attractions worth visiting, with tips and information about each place. As an illustrated guide, it would provide readers a visual sneak peak of what might to expect at these locations, without giving all the surprises away. The vibrant, welcoming visuals in this booklet makes it serve not just as a travel guide, but as a memento to hold on to well after your trip.

Research:
I spent time browsing travel blogs and researching the attractions and histories of route 66 to narrow down seven locations to highlight in the magazine. I wanted to have a mix of larger tourist attractions, smaller roadside attractions, and nature.

Sketching:
I wanted to create illustrations with a style and color palette that captured the essence of each place. I pinpointed an iconic feature of each place to draw for each spread. I used a mixture of reference images and Google Streetview to create the illustrations in the perspectives that I wanted. Streetview was extremely helpful in finding angles for buildings that would allow for clean type integration.

Type:
After completing my illustration, I mapped out where the type would go, and how long it needed to be. With that word count in mind, I wrote a guide for the spread. Then, I stylized it to integrate into the illustration through color, spacing, and text wrapping when necessary.
