Process
When conceptualizing this video, we wanted to stylize the illustrations in a way that was fun and welcoming, to match the way Salt City Harvest Farm helps welcome new Americans. We worked to highlight themes of growth and diversity throughout the explainer.

One way Salt City Harvest farm helps immigrants adjust to their new lives is by having them plant fruits and vegetables specific to their home countries, as a way to provide some familiarity to them. The produce illustrated in this video are examples of this.

Additionally, we decided to integrate some video into the animations, in order for viewers to get a sense of what the farm looks like beyond the illustrations.

The client: Salt City Harvest Farm is a nonprofit organization located in Syracuse, NY with the goal of helping new Americans adjust to their new surroundings, language, and culture through growing food specific to their home countries.

The goal: Create an animated explainer video for the organization’s website to educate the community on Salt City Harvest Farm’s goals and what they do.

My role: Illustrator and animator

Tools: Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, Procreate

Timeline: This project was done in 48 hours with a team of six designers.
